2. What types of tournaments do you attend and how
often?
We average two
tournaments per month and our tournaments start in January and end in
June. About half of our tournaments are multi-day events. Most age groups
compete at two national qualifiers. Most years our multi-day tournaments are held in
Minneapolis, MN., Chicago, IL., Indianapolis, IN., Milwaukee and Wisconsin Dells, WI.
Our single day events are usually held in the Badger Region (Wisconsin),
Great Lakes Region (Northern Illinois), and the Iowa Region (Eastern
Iowa). A
list of the tournaments we plan to attend this season will be posted on
our Tournament page as soon
as tournament information is published by the hosting clubs. A tentative tournament list is posted now.

3. How much does club cost?
4. What does the club fee cover?
The club fee
for teams are 15's-18's = $1250, 14's = $1100 and 13's = $1000. These
fees cover the cost of uniforms, tournament entry fees (except season ending tournaments), equipment, coaches expenses (except season ending tournaments), gym rental, etc..
The 15-18 club fee covers the cost of two national qualifiers. The 14's will only attend one National Qualifier and the 13's will not attend any National Qualifiers. To be clear....there is NO additional
cost for National Qualifiers. The club fees do not cover the players cost of travel such as hotels, meals, gas,
etc..
Families may pay the club fee as a lump sum, but at a minimum must pay according to the monthly payment schedule listed below.
Payments are spread over the season as a convenience to our families. We require a start-up fee when the player commits after tryouts and then
the remainder of payments are spread over the season in monthly payments. Monthly payments are a convenience for our players. Players must keep their payments up-to-date in order to continue to practice
and compete at tournaments.
Season ending tournaments are handled on a team by team basis and this may include National Championship
tournaments. Each attending player will be charged an additional fee for these tournaments.

6. When do your
tournaments start and when does your season end?
Our tournament
season starts in January and ends in June/July for most of or teams. Our 14's through 18's will compete to qualify for nationals and if successful will play at nationals in late June. If they do not qualify they
will have the option of another season ending tournament earlier in June. Our 13's will not attempt to qualify for nationals so their season will end a bit earlier in May.

7. My daughter wants to
play other sports. How do you handle potential conflicts?
We understand
that many of our players are part of their high school athletics programs and other
activities such as dance, music, etc.. We expect that academics
will take precedence in whatever time conflict presents itself.
We do however, expect a serious commitment to Wisconsin Select practices
and tournaments. Wisconsin Select exists to help our players improve
their level of play and provide the opportunity to compete against some of the best
competition within USA Volleyball. To do that we need to have all of
our players together working as a team. We inform our players early
about the tournaments we expect to enter and we expect feedback from them on possible
conflicts. We also expect to be informed by our players well in advance when they will be late or miss a practice. Each team will
define what a player can expect when they miss practices with regards to tournament
play,
especially if they miss without prior notice to their coach.

8. How many players do you
have on a team and how many teams do you have per age group?
Wisconsin
Select usually carries ten players per team and we have one team per age group.
Ten players allows us to give all of our players a good amount of playing
time and still gives us some buffer in case a player, for whatever reason,
is unable to attend a tournament.

9. Do you conduct
fundraising?
Wisconsin Select does not take the lead in conducting fundraising. If our parents are interested in fundraising we will create a parents'
committee with representatives from each team to organize and execute those activities.

10. What if my daughter
can't make one of the tryout dates?
If your
daughter cannot attend one of our tryout sessions let us know. On
the first day of tryouts part of the session deals with physical testing.
If you daughter can come at another age groups time to do the physical
testing that would be okay. If she cannot attend any session on the
first day then she should try to come about 1/2 hour earlier on the second
day to do the physical testing. In either case, make sure you let us
know about the situation so that we can expect her at a different time.
You can send us an email at wisconsinselect@gmail.com to let us know of the conflict and how you
plan to address it.
