contributed the following report.
The 15's did the Polar
Plunge on Saturday, Feb 21. I think everyone was excited to
go but also a little scared. We all met around 2:15 and Elle
and Amy met Winnie the Pooh and some of his friends that were
plunging. We all got changed into our tie-dyed or our Polar
Plunge t-shirts. Then we got in line. The smart ones
Rachel and Elle, brought shoes and sandals. But all of the
rest didn't. So when we were waiting in line on the snow,
our feet were cold, very cold. I looked around and all of us
were freezing and holding each other, and then I look at coach and
he's smiling and jumping up and down. We finally got very
close to the line and a guy said that we had to have sandals on,
so we all got some on. |
Then he said that we
could go. We started walking toward the hole. We had
to go through this slush first, which was FREEZING. By then,
I was holding on to Katelin's hand pretty hard. I thought it
took forever to get around to where we had to jump but when we all
got there we held hands. They counted down for us and we
said, "HIIIII --YA!" and jumped in. We all swam as fast as
we could to get to the steps to get out. Rachel's mom said
that we were in the water for 10 seconds. It sure seemed
like longer. I am sure everyone wanted to get out of there
fast but unfortunately for Elle she had to swim back and get her
sandal that was still in the water. I fell on the first step
trying to get out. Afterward when we got out, we all tried
running to the hot tub. |
I don't even know how to
explain how I felt. It kind'a felt like my whole body was
numb. When we got to the hot tub everyone was pushing each
other in. All of us couldn't believe how cold the lake
actually was. Kelsie and Katelin couldn't feel their feet at
all. After our time was up in the hot tub, we all went into
the dressing rooms and changed into some dry clothes. Rachel
and I couldn't raise our arms at all. After everyone got
dressed, we all decided to go and eat at Rocky's. I think we
all had fun plunging and I don't know, maybe I will do it again.
